Book 2 is pitched as a stand-alone but is best read after Book 1, in my opinion. We get to follow the story of Caslin, who had been presumed dead in the first book. She’s not dead, but she is in trouble and held captive in enemy hands. When she goes from the pot into the fire, her adventures are just beginning.

Balanced on the Blade’s Edge, Dragon Blood Book 1
Balanced on the Blade’s Edge, Dragon Blood Book 1, was originally written as a stand-alone happily-for-now, and it shows with the pacing of the romantic relationship. Not quite insta-love it was pretty quick nonetheless and forced proximity makes it more believable. I’m very glad that Buroker continued the series and gave even more time for the characters, and their lovely relationship, to continue.
The Dragon Blood Collection, Books 1-3 Omnibus
The Dragon Blood Omnibus by Lindsay Buroker is a great introduction to the series and will save you a ton of money vs picking up each book individually. But be warned! You’ll end up buying the rest of the books in the series just to keep in touch with your favorite characters.
